The Milwaukee Brewers acquired right-handed reliever Hunter Strickland from the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations.
Also on Saturday, the Brewers transferred third baseman Travis Shaw from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL.
Strickland, 32, was designated for assignment by the Angels on Monday.
Strickland was 0-0 with a 9.95 ERA in nine relief appearances with the Angels. He allowed nine runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in 6 1/3 innings after the team acquired him from the Tampa Bay Rays last month.
Strickland owns a 16-16 record with 21 saves and a 3.29 ERA in 307 relief appearances with the San Francisco Giants (2014-18), Seattle Mariners (2019), Washington Nationals (2019), New York Mets (2020), Rays and Angels.
Shaw, 31, sustained a dislocated left shoulder during Wednesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. He is batting .191 with six homers and 28 RBIs in 56 games this season.
Shaw is batting .240 with 111 homers and 355 RBIs in 698 career games with the Boston Red Sox (2015-16), Toronto Blue Jays (2020) and Brewers.
